You can cook them on the grill, frying pan, crock pot, or anywhere else where you would cook beef cubes. Get these delicious Freeze Dried Beef Cubes exclusively at MREdepot.

All cans were sealed in an oxygen/moisture free environment. Each can weighs 16 oz.

Flash Facts:
  • #10 Size Cans (aka Gallon Can)
  • U.S. Government/Military Surplus
  • 25+ year shelf life
  • No Refrigeration Required
  • September 2023 Production

Preparation: To prepare the beef, just soak it in cold or warm water for 3 hours and cook. These cubes are universal and can be used in a variety of dishes! If you wish to add some flavor to them, you can even rehydrate them in the watered down marinade. Once we rehydrated the cubes, we used one portion for a delicious beef stew cooked in a crock pot and another portion for tender, mouth-watering kebabs.

However, it is completely up to you how you want to prepare these cubes. Once rehydrated, they look just like top round are beef cubes that you would get at your grocer's deli.

We've found that although great with only a 3 hours soak in warm tap water or marinade, if you let them sit longer they get even more tender. You can expect 25+ years shelf life as long as the beef cubes are sealed in the can - and probably as many as 30 to 40 since there is no water or oxygen in the can to spoil them!!!

Once opened they will last:
  • up to 1 year in a Zip Lock bag with refrigeration once opened but not re-hydrated
  • up to 60 days in a zip lock bag without refrigeration once opened, but not re-hydrated
  • up to 5 days in the fridge once they are re-hydrated.

These are perfect for storing and using for many years! You can have great tasting food in seconds with no mess and no waste - and it doesn't matter if the power goes out!! You can open just one can at a time and in 3 hours cook one or as many of these as you want however you would cook any other fresh beef cubes!!! Perfect for camping, boating, traveling, or at the cabin.

4 of 5 Kitty Approved December 12, 2019

I decided to make Beef Stew from food storage ingredients. The Top Round Beef Cubes should be soaked in the refrigerator for 24 hours. I used home dehydrated carrots and celery with homemade beef stock, onions, daikon and peppers. My 19 year old Kitty was watching every bite, so I shredded  the beef and she ate every piece and wanted more.

3 of 5 Not bad but.... August 9, 2018

These are as advertised. The cans are pretty full and the cubes re-hydrate decently. We have had some problems with them completely re-hydrating in the center so make sure to soak them well AND make sure the cubes stay submerged.

Main reason for 3 stars is that the quality of the beef is just so-so. I admit I am spoiled as I buy a half a beef from a butcher and usually get grass fed instead of buying at the store. The beef cubes (And sirloin steaks) are clearly from feedlot beef.
nothing wrong with them but they do taste different to me than I expect beef to taste.
Also, some of the cubes are going to be tough as they include, like most cubes, cross cut tendon and other tissues.

Are expecting nice red meat like you get when its fresh? Nope. There is a vague red color but the freeze drying process turns the meat a dull brown. They will still cook up fine though.

I have enough of these at the moment but would still buy another can or two if I was using the last one I had.

5 of 5 Used the Beef chunks in a soup August 9, 2018
Reviewer: Tech Editor from Lafargeville, NY United States
I will start out by saying I purchase from a number of companies and typically mix and match to produce a meal. I started with Emergency Essentials Mixed Vegetables for Stew, then add their freeze dried Mushrooms, a 1/2 teaspoon (per serving) of Better than Bullion Chicken base. After cooking for 13 minutes, I regularly add a "Chunk Chicken in Natural Juices" MRE for the last 2 minutes and you end up with a great chicken veg soup.
However this time  I made the veg soup with the  "Freeze Dried Top Round Beef Cubes". These were tossed into the same basic mix at the beginning of the cook, even used the same Chicken base. Almost immediately you could smell the beef through out the Kitchen. After 15 minutes of simmering, I removed the chunks of beef and cut them into bite size pieces. The addition of these beef chunks elevated this veg soup to another level and She who must be obeyed stated that this iteration of the veg soup was her favorite.
