These Freeze Dried Chicken Taquitos are 5" long. Taquitos are rolled up tacos that can be served as appetizer or as a meal. These taquitos are already done and rolled up, so all you have to do is to rehydrate them and to bake them. We found these taquitos to be crunchy and delicious. These Freeze Dried Taquitos were manufactured in 2018 by a large military defense contractor. Although actual use is always classified on these kinds of bids, our information is that these are purchased for the Executive Branch use, not for our troops in the field. That usually means these go to underground bunkers for continuity of government use by strategic military leaders, congressional members and sometimes even White House staff or leadership. As always, we opened several cans to try these out before we offer them to you, and these taquitos are amazing: crispy, meaty, and as fresh as the day they were flash frozen and dehydrated! Chicken Taquitos will provide you with the warm, delicious appetizer or a meal that you will love!
Preparation: To prepare the taquitos, just soak the desired amount of taquitos in cold water for 2 minutes or less and cook. Do not use warm or hot water!
To prepare in a conventional oven - preheat oven to 300 degrees. Place rehydrated taquitos on baking sheet. Heat for 6-10 minutes or until crispy.
To prepare on a grill - best if grilled on medium heat until shell is golden brown and crispy. Cook thoroughly for approximately 10 minutes.
Once we rehydrated we put taquitos on a grill. However, it is completely up to you how you want to prepare them. There was no shrinkage when we cooked them. You can expect 25+ years shelf life as long as taquitos are sealed in the can - and probably as many as 30 to 40 since there is no water or oxygen in the can to spoil them!!!
Once opened they will last:
- up to 1 year in a Zip Lock bag with refrigeration once opened but not re-hydrated
- up to 60 days in a zip lock bag without refrigeration once opened, but not re-hydrated
- up to 5 days in the fridge once they are re-hydrated.
These are perfect for storing and using for many years! You can have great tasting food in seconds with no mess and no waste - and it doesn't matter if the power goes out!! You can open just one can at a time and in 10-15 minutes enjoy one or as many of these as you want however you would cook any other taquitos!!! Perfect for camping, boating, traveling, or at the cabin.
